yin + iRest yoga nidra
with rebecca gellman
This pop up class is a balance for our busy, always moving, active lifestyles by focusing on yoga poses and meditation that are more about being still, pausing, noticing, resting and relaxing. This class will consist of moving through a yin yoga sequence that targets our connective tissue and joints and then settling into final resting form for a restful guided iREST meditation. This class is open to all participants, no prior yin or meditation experience necessary.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
While initially this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures an average of 3-7 minutes while relying on gravity for the poses (all yin poses are done on the mat, no standing poses).
iRest Meditation
iRest is a natural process of mindfulness meditation based on ancient yogic wisdom and modern-day science that has been shown to effectively help with sickness, injury, pain in your body and mind, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and insomnia/sleep disorders. this class will consist of an iRest guided meditation along with some brief information and education provided about iRest.
All are welcome! No prior experience necessary. This practice helps both the physical and emotional aspects of our well-being. iRest teaches self-care tools that lead you to find and experience the self-mastery, resilience, and well-being that you already possess within yourself. Come and join us as you give yourself this restorative practice!

roots between plants and yoga
with gabrielle sessoms
We are not separate from nature. Plants are perhaps some of the greatest teachers of our interconnectedness, our yoga or union with all. Your every inhale and exhale is an exchange between you and plants. A sacred dance of reciprocity. You breathe in the air that plants purify for you.
Yoga is about form, self-enquiry and exploring various shapes and poses. For the ultimate balance, this can also be reflected in your space through combining yin and yang. Incorporating plants can help balance the look and feel of your space and improve your practice.
In this workshop we combine the balance of yin yoga and vinyasa yoga for a yin and yang fusion flow, following the flow with the serene sounds of a singing bowl meditation and completing the workshop with a plant exchange. In which, attendees will each bring a plant and swap their plant for another green companion.

Brief Bio:
Hi guys, my name is Gabrielle Sessoms, 200hr Yoga Instructor. I started practicing yoga around 2017 on and off, it wasn’t until the Covid-19 pandemic during quarantine that I started practicing daily. It kept me motivated and in a routine, which felt comforting in a time with so much uncertainty. After getting back to work and so called “normal” life and after the havoc of the pandemic calmed down a little. I fell back into a constant state of working and the question arose, “what am I doing?” “What would be more fulfilling for me?” So, I decided to take the leap and take the 200 hour YTT course to become a certified instructor. Fast-forward months later I’ve finished the program and now teach as an instructor at three incredible studios. I’m also a certified Sound Healer and Reiki Practitioner. The more I dive into the healing world, the more I find I continue to fail in love with this way of life every single day.

August 5th, 1:00pm - 6:00pm
$90 per person, In person only
Min: 10 people / Max: none
Join two healing arts practitioners for an afternoon exploration of your body, mind and spirit. This Somatic Sanctuary Mini-Retreat will begin with a traditional Tantra yoga practice and deep meditation. Following movement+settling, dive into somatic expressive arts to explore the richness of your inner experience.
Tantra Yoga: Slow, aligning, gentle, energy based yoga, encouraging meditation and stillness throughout. The aim of the practice is to balance the internal system (hormones/prana/chi) through a methodical combination of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and Vedic philosophy - leading to achieved relaxation on and off your mat. Final shavasana concludes the practice as a way to offer space to reset and honor yourself.
Meditation: Following gentle movement, relax into meditation, which was originally practiced by ancient sages to consciously watch their samskaras, or "impressions of the mind.” A systematic practice of moving awareness from external to internal worlds. Practicing meditation allows us to bring consciousness to the unconscious mind, to gradually release limiting patterns and habits. This state of Alpha waves is in between vigilant and sleep states, where body tissues and unhealthy mind habits undergo deep repair.
Somatic Expressive Arts: You will be invited to express your inner landscape and to connect with your inherent creativity and well-being. Traditional Tantra Yoga: A Return to Your True Self
with taylor logrosso
4-day (12 hr.) workshop for yoga students, teachers and newcomers
Cost: $333 per person
Days/Times: Sat July 22, 1-5pm
Sun July 23, 1:30-3:30pm
Sat July 29, 1-5pm
Sun July 30, 1:30-3:30pm
Gather in community to explore the ancient practice of Traditional Tantra Yoga, as taught by Bhagavan Shri Shanmukha of Tantra Mela, previously named Shri Kali Ashram. The Tantras are the underlying principles of the Vedas and the Indian life science of Ayurveda. The aim of the practice is to balance our internal system (hormones/prana/chi) through a methodical combination of āsanas (postures), prāṇāyāma (breath work) and Vedic philosophy - leading to achieved relaxation on and off your mat.
This lineage has been interpreted directly from the Trika (Kashmiri Shaivism) tradition, called Kaula Tantra, which involves the practice of all aspects of yoga (āsanas, prāṇāyāma, bandhas (body locks), mantra (sacred sound), yantra (geometric symbols), puja (ritual), kuṇḍalinī (prana), chakras (energy centers), dhyāna (meditation), dhāraṇā (concentration), samādhi (union/merging with the Infinite), and Āyurvedic walking massage.
For this introduction to a lifetime of material, the focus will be on concepts applicable to everyone. Resources will be shared on topics not covered. You will be given a manual and also encouraged to take notes.
Each day will consist of one Tantra Yoga physical asana practice and one lecture, with time for discussion in between. Various pranayama and bandha exercises will be interwoven. The main difference between the āsanas of Tantra and other styles of yoga is the set sequence of poses that make up each series. Through repetition and stillness, the body shifts into optimal ergonomics and total health on an unconscious level.
The specific series taught include:
- Tri Dosha: the bread and butter of Tantra
- Viyama: the standing series
- Dand Flow: the strengthening series
- Happy Hips: the seated series
The lectures will include:
- History of Yoga and Tantra
- Dharma: the formula for freedom
- Dinarcharyia: the Ayurvedic daily routine
- Ahamkara and Chod Practice: the return to your infinite nature
“Shaivism is a monistic (advaita) science that teaches integration and oneness with the auspicious Divine. This concept of wholesomeness is reflected in all teachings. Tantra is not an academic philosophy, but a life practice. Since you can't separate the mind from the body, before you can learn to meditate, one must first achieve harmony within one's body. Tantrics see the body as an expression of the soul, not just a physical shell.
Thus we offer a unique traditional system of āsanas, prāṇāyāma and bandhas to train the body, mind and subtle energy system (nāḍis). Through our āsanas, students not only build strength and flexibility, but also energy, grace, fluidity and inner harmony. Our unique teaching style enables our students to master their āsanas and meditation in a short time. In Tantra Yoga, āsanas take you to deeper meditation. We emphasize meditation (Dhāraṇā / Dhyāna / Bhāvanā / Samādhi) to enable students to attain oneness with the Divine self.” — Bhagavan Shri Shanmukha
Through continued practice, we become reset by Tantric metaphysics and open up to achieving a wholesome life culture by dropping what we don't need. This yoga is a space for total freedom and expression of self, as we “pierce the veil” that obscures our awareness of limitless potential in the quickest and most effective ways.
Immerse yourself in the liberating philosophy and practice of Traditional Tantra Yoga.
Reserve your space by July 20th.

Taylor, Your Guide:
A lifelong student of traditional yoga and Eastern mysticism, lover of all things natural and on a mission to bring you back to wholeness. Taylor was fortunate enough to be introduced to yoga in her adolescence. Over the last 15 years, she has immersed herself in the traditional practice as a spiritual life science to help find her true purpose, reduce pain/stress, and to restore self-love and centeredness regardless of external circumstances. Along her journey, which included a three-month stay at Shri Kali Ashram in Thailand for the 500hr Traditional Tantra Yoga teacher training, Taylor continues to return to her Dharma, which in Sanskrit refers to the real self. A yogi, doula and educator seeking to provide space in which people of all walks of life feel honored, supported and loved. Taylor looks forward to sharing this practice and esoteric knowledge with you."

qoya workshop
with lindsay thomas
Qoya is based on the simple idea that through movement we have the opportunity to remember our deepest essence as wise, wild and free!
"Wise" draws on the ancient wisdom of yoga. "Wild" draws on the creative expression found in dance. And "freedom" expands our capacity to remain present in our bodies. Qoya has nothing to do with what you look like and everything to do with how you feel and is less of a dance class and more of an inner road map back to embodiment. A qoya class is a fusion of dance, yoga and feminine movement and serves as an inner road map back to embodiment. To learn more visit: https://www.qoya.love/
About Lindsay:
Lindsay is a yoga teacher, a Qoya teacher, a massage therapist, a mom and is wildly passionate about all things healing and embodiment. After living and teaching yoga and qoya in the Asheville, NC area, Lindsay is very excited to share her passion for dance, yoga and movement with the Wilmington community! Lindsay currently manages Relax Massage Therapy and Skin Care and lives just outside of Wilmington with her son and pup. In her free time, she loves to drink tea, spend time with family and friends and be outside, especially by the water.

2 YA (yoga alliance) CEUs available
Join Noelle Whittington, Narayani, in an afternoon of storytelling and song from the Hindu tradition. The Vedas contained beautiful songs and stories that you may have heard about in your Yoga classes or on your playlists, and it left you wanting more.
This workshop will focus on the stories within the evolution of Consciousness as the 3 phases, called the Trimurti: Creation, Maintenance, and Destruction. Specifically: Brahma and Saraswati, Vishnu and Lakshmi, and Shiva and Parvati.
We will dive into the sweetness of these archetypes called Deities and enjoy their stories that will help us relate these Divine aspects to our own lives. These Divine qualities are not outside ourselves, but rather these names help us relate to the many beautiful aspects within ourselves and each other. This workshop is not about performance or proficiency in singing- this is a shared practice and an offering of our group to that which is most sacred to us, perhaps tapping into our true nature of Lovingkindness. This is a heart-centered workshop for everyone who needs nurturing, connection, and inspiration.

soul expression: movement and sound
with Noelle Whittington, ERYT500, YACE
2 YA (yoga alliance) CEUs available
Let’s come together to get free- to breathe, to listen, to move, to make sounds, to connect deeply to our Soul’s wisdom and embody our most authentic expression!
This workshop will begin with a breathing meditation to harness the power of our creative life force energy (Kundalini Shakti), which will lead us into the practice of Ecstatic Dance- a free-form, semi-guided safe place to explore how sound and music and rhythm want to express themselves through our embodied movement practice. Expect an epic playlist of music curated to stir your blood and get your heart pumping, so that you can feel free to express yourself in any way you desire.
This life-affirming, endorphin-releasing experience will lead us into a chant practice, which will include enjoying sounds without meaning to attune our energy body to free our voices, and simple call-and response mantra. Noelle will lead the sound with her voice, her harmonium, and various other instruments to aid in the feeling of celebration. When a group of people breathes and sings together, their heart rates sync up.
This workshop is about connection with ourselves and each other, to access the unlimited power within and without- to tune into and remember who we really are and to fully step into our power. The workshop will end with a grounding meditation to integrate all these powerful modes of expression, to leave us feeling ready to confidently go out into the world.

shoulder health & the turkish getup
with michael reidy, cpt
The shoulder Health workshop will be 75min long and feature The Turkish Get-Up movement, (TGU). The TGU uses all planes of movement, mobility, and strength. In Russia it was known as the weighted yoga movement. It is a beautiful example of training primitive movement patterns- from rolling, kneeling to standing and reaching. The beginning part of class I will discuss the movement it’s history, etc. I will incorporate bands after that to wake up hips and shoulders. Cork yoga blocks as a way to incorporate weight or “feedback” for the TGU.
A little bit about your host, Mike:
I grew up in New York playing all sports, but baseball was my favorite. I ended up having shoulder surgery my sophomore year of H.S. and was unable to play again. That led me to getting a 4yr degree in Athletic Training from Dominican University in Blauvelt, NY (formerly Dominican College). I loved learning how to prevent injuries in the first place. I started doing personal training while in college and have now made it my profession for 21 years. I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through NSCA. I have my Kettlebell certification through StrongFirst, and many other certifications in my career. I really enjoy helping people become a better version of themselves mentally and physically. Resilience and anti-fragile are the two things I like to accomplish in my clients and myself. Since building myself up after shoulder surgery I boxed for many years, played rugby for a bit, basketball, and every now and then hit the batting cages. My goal is to keep playing in sports and in life…forever!

qoya workshop
with lindsay thomas
